Maximilian Pöllner has been working as choir director and deanery cantor at the city parish church of St. Josef in Memmingen since 2016, where he is artistic director of the "Concerts in St. Josef", as well as lecturer for choral conducting in the C-training. Previously, he was assistant to the cathedral conductor in Eichstätt. His studies led him to Augsburg, Vienna and Regensburg, where he graduated with a Master of Arts degree in church music, concert organ and music education organ improvisation. His professors included Prof. Karl Maureen, Prof. Peter Planyavsky, Prof. Erwin Ortner, Prof. Franz Josef Stoiber and Prof. Norbert Düchtel. As part of his master's thesis, he researched the teaching methods of leading professors of organ improvisation. Complementing his education, he attended master classes with Daniel Roth, Hans Haselböck, Pierre Pincemaille, Thierry Escaich Wolfgang Seifen and many others. He won important prizes at several international competitions for organ improvisation and liturgical organ playing. During his studies he was a permanent representative of the cathedral organists at the cathedrals in Passau and Regensburg and in 2012 he was featured in Joseph Vilsmaier's film "Bavaria -A Dream Journey through Bavaria" in German cinemas.
